Rolling Stones face insurance battle over postponed gigs

The Rolling Stones look set to face an insurance battle when it comes to claiming money due to gigs cancelled in the wake of L'Wren Scott's death. Mick Jagger's partner committed suicide in March of this year, causing the band to postpone a number of their shows in Australia. BBC News reports that the band are attempting to claim $12.7 million (£7.9 million).

The Rolling Stones announce new live album series

The Rolling Stones have announced the first two releases in their new From The Vault series. From The Vault features live concerts from band's archive and are available across a number of formats. The band will release From The Vault – Hampton Coliseum – Live In 1981 on November 3 with From The Vault - LA Forum - Live In 1975 following on November 17. Previously, the audio has been previously available as a digital download via the Stones' website but not on CD or LP; the video has never previously been released.

Extinct water pig with ‘tactile lips’ named after Mick Jagger

An extinct 'water pig' with 'tactile lips' has been named after Mick Jagger. The 19-million-year-old anthracotheres - a species which has been likened to a kind of 'long-legged pig' - was named in honour of The Rolling Stones frontman because of its "tactile lips". Recently discovered in Egypt thanks to the finding of pieces of fossilised jaw, it has been named Jaggermeryx naida, which means 'Jagger's water nymph'.

The Rolling Stones have cancelled the first date of their Australian tour after the death of Mick Jaggar's girlfriend, the US fashion designer L'Wren Scott.
