Legendary folk genius Van Morrison, OBE, is the latest addition to Liverpool’s Summer Pops festival this July.

He will play Aintree Racecourse on July 12 – returning to the city after two sell-out shows at the Philharmonic Hall last Summer as part of the Irish Festival that took place.

Speaking about last year’s special performances, Morrison proclaimed “The shows in Liverpool were very enjoyable, we had a ball!”

Van the Man’s latest release “Van Morrison At The Movies” has seen him continue to receive raptuous praise. The album even made it in to the US Billboard Top 40 upon it’s release.

The collection includes some of his most renowned songs – Everyone from Martin Scorcese to John Landis have used Morrison’s music for their films, including “Moondance”, “Brown Eyed Girl” and ‘Bright Side Of The Road.”

Morrison’s career, spans four decades, and he has influenced many contemporary artists. He was inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993.

Previously announced acts playing the Summer Pops season are OMD, Deacon Blue and Steely Dan.

Tickets for the July 12 show go on sale from today, priced £28.50 and £32.50.
