The Stereophonics are to perform at a free concert at the Cardiff Millennium Stadium on Bank Holiday Weekend, to help celebrate Wales’ Rugby success at the 2008 Grand Slam.
Other Welsh artists including Feeder, last year’s X Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts as well as former M People singer Heather Small will also appear at the event alongside the national Welsh Rugby team led by Captain Ryan Jones.
The concert will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, with free tickets being distributed via local rugby clubs across Wales from this Friday (May 16).
WRU chief executive Roger Lewis said in a statement today: “This is the opportunity for the supporters to salute the players and coached who delivered so many victories for Wales this past season.
“We were determined that entry would be free because we want as many people as possible to show their appreciation and we would particularly like to thank each of the many high profile music and entertainment acts that have already shown their support.”
When Wales last won the Grand Slam event in 2005, 20,000 fans were joined by the team and the Prince Charles for a similar party.
