John Cale performed an impressive set at Glastonbury last night (June 27), even debuting a new song for the crowd.

Taking to the Park Stage around 9pm with a greeting of “hello campers”, the veteran performed a set heavy on improvisation and extended versions of tracks.

The large crowd gathered to see him seemed particularly impressed with vintage tracks, including “Dirty Ass Rock ‘n’ Roll”, taken from 1975’s “Slow Dazzle”.

Newer tracks, such as “Sold-Motel”, from 2005’s “blackAcetate”, also got a warm reception, as did the sole new track Cale previewed, “Dancing Fool”, which lasted for over six minutes.
