Famed for writing some of the best punk pop singles of all time, Buzzcocks, the band who D.I.Y. packaged and sold Manchester’s burgeoning late ‘70s music scene to the world, head to Latitude this year, handpicked by Mark Lamarr to headline a live version of his Radio 2 show, God’s Jukebox.
More than three decades after forming, the seminal band still includes founding members Pete Shelley and guitarist Steve Diggle, who created the band’s tracks including “What Do I Get?” and “Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)?”.
The band’s name has more recently been purloined for use (combined with the Sex Pistols’ debut album title) on TV music quiz show, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, also hosted by Lamarr. God’s Jukebox, live, will also feature new talented artists alongside the Buzzcocks experience, so make some time to check out Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed & The True Loves, James Hunter, The Heavy and Pete Molinari.
Buzzcocks play Latitude’s dedicated Music & Film Arena on Saturday July 18.
