WhoMadeWho make an unexpected debut on the main stage of Benicassim, replacing The Klaxons, caused by a 3 hour Gatwick flight delay. Armageddon weather that is apparently (!) afflicting the UK.

The massive heaving crowd are somewhat confused, but eventually mostly delighted by the danceable professionalism of the Danish electro DJs that replace the british trio.

Dressed in Skeleton suits, and seeking to further confuse the mainstage Benicassim crowd by stating “We are The Klaxons, we came all the way from Denmark”. However, most seem to know them, and their psychadelic screaming guitar dance-rock made for a wonderful sunset mood.

Playing their interpretation of the Stones’ ‘Satisfaction’ sees the early party-goers jumping up and down, with the (slightly overweight) drummer physically interpreting the lyrics “push me, and then just touch me…”.

To my ears, this was a good slot swap, which suited the mood of the crowd, and meant The Klaxons were guaranteed to play to a capacity crowd at the emergency venue swap of Ecsenario Fiberfib.

Next up is The Rapture, who kept the audience waiting. The live show again failed to deliver,after a poor showing at Latitude last weekend, with the set merely bumping along, and definitely not setting the crowd on fire.
