The Who have found themselves inadvertently embroiled in a row with fans of boyband One Direction on social media site, Twitter. The row stems from comments made by Click Music, which saw certain similarities between the intro on One Direction's new single, "Best Song Ever", and The Who's track, "Baba O'Riley".

White Stripes confirm full release for Elephant reissue

The White Stripes have confirmed that Jack White's Third Man label will reissue the band's fourth album, Elephant. Originally released in 2003, Elephant was given a limited edition vinyl re-release in April this year for Record Store Day. Now, Third Man have confirmed a full re-release for the vinyl edition.

Hear rare Alex Chilton tracks

A live performance by Alex Chilton recorded on February 13, 1997 at The Knitting Factory in New York is to be released on October 21. The venue suffered a power cut, although Chilton stayed on and entertained fans for an hour with an acoustic set consisting of cover versions. The 18-song set is to be released as the Electricity By Candlelight album on the Bar/None label. Throwing Muses are to return with their first new material in ten years. The 32 track Purgatory/Paradise album will be available on October 29, 2013 as a deluxe 64-page book and a full studio album on CD, published by the experimental HarperCollins imprint, The Friday Project.

Site of Led Zeppelin’s first concert rehearsal to be honoured

A primary school in Denmark where the members of Led Zeppelin rehearsed for their first ever gig, is to be honoured with a commemorative plaque. Fullflling some contractual Yardbirds dates, the band - who were then billed as The New Yardbirds - were booked to play a short tour of Scandinavia, beginning at the Gladsaxe Teen-Clubs in Copenhagen on September 7, 1968. This was the first time Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham had performed together publicly.

Prince has revealed a brand new song, "Groovy Potential". A one minute, 22 second clips of the song was posted to YouTube yesterday (August 13), with the full track available for purchase at Prince's official website.
