Mixed weather, a combination of torrential downpours and blazing sun, has resulted in bizarre sights this morning of people wearing combinations of spring, summer and winter attire, all splashed with a healthy dose of mud!

As soon as I strip off layers of jumpers and go in search of quirky ‘glasto’ sunglasses, the clouds move in again and everything is drenched.

However I bravely trekked through now ankle deep brown puddles to go and check out The Cribs and Modest Mouse over on the Other Stage. The Cribs played a frantic set, with their guitarist Gary Jarman ending the show losing his shirt jumping into the crowd. He also caused a bit of controversy, commented bizarrely “They want us to speak out about global warming but the biggest problem is the attitude of some indie bands. Isn’t that a bigger problem?” Not sure what he’s alluding to.

Following The Cribs are Modest Mouse, who started their set to a packed crowd, despite a torrential outbreak. Front man Isaac Brock proclaims “Fuck the rain!” and promptly the clouds part to a massive cheer from the crowd.

Joined on stage by new member and former Smiths‘ guitarist Johnny Marr, they sound clear and good, and tracks played included “Fire It Up”, “Education” and 2004 hit single “Float On.”

And finally: Glastonbury festival fashion no-no (x 2) part 1:

Off to see Amy Winehouse on the Pyramid Stage now – she should be cool.

And the heavens have opened again. Joy!
