Although the individual elements of their songs were often derivative (frequently deliberately), the way they were designed and performed displayed a classic pop sensibility allied to a continuous inventiveness.
10cc, their debut album from 1973, had modest ambitions but remains a winner, while its follow-up, Sheet Music (1974), shows the beginnings of their mature style: witty, quickfire, literate music-making.
