Belle And Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch has revealed how he used to pretend he was as “out-there” as The Fall’s Mark E Smith.
Murdoch talks about some of the albums that changed his life in the new issue of Uncut, dated September 2013 and out now, and one of his picks is The Fall’s 1986 record Bend Sinister.
“I didn’t know what Mark E Smith was talking about half the time,” Murdoch explains, “but in my mind I was as out-there as him, staying up reading Nabokov [The Fall’s album is named after a novel by the author] and walking down the street with the madness of being up all night.”
